The disadvantages of forming a web co-op......

Well, there's always a down side.... but depending on your needs, these may not factor in your project.

1. You need to work together! That means communication and agreement! But surely, this is worth the effort.....
2. If you want to have an on-line shop, then you'll need to determine a strategy to make this work. When keeping things simple, you can only have one bank account, and the details on purchasing need to go to one email destination. This doesn't mean to say that your still can't reap the benefits of the co-op - simply that you'll need your own small shopping web site.
3. Unique usage stats are a problem. Again, if this is important to you (as opposed to simply knowing that the overall web site is being accessed), then there are additional lo-cost options.
   
4. That's all!

Has it been done before? Not so far as I can tell - so there are no active, live sites for you to look at.
