Keeping business local helps to keep costs down and ensure that you don't need to go far to ask those important questions, get that wee bit of extra help, and does it's bit to save the planet!
Anna has lived in the Perth area for about 8 years, and for serveral of them, burned far more petrol than was necessary, joining the rest of the commuters down to Edinburgh, thinking, like many, that industry had left Perth - No "real" jobs here! How wrong I was! Perth has an exciting business community, which thrives on diversity and innovation.
So the answer to the petrol burning problem? Create the opportunity!
And so, Pawsability was born! What? I hear you say - this is about Projects and Business surely?
Well, yes. But what better way is there to understand the problems and needs of a small business than setting one up yourself. Pawsability is now a successful Pet Behaviour business which is used by all the local vets. Again, one aim of the company was to create a local service. Prior to Pawsability, people with problem pets had to pay extortionate fees and travel all the way to Edinburgh.
But what does that mean?
It means that Anna has had a whirlwind tour of what creating a small business is all about and understands how easy it is to get distracted onto working on the detail of a problem which is not directly related to growing your business and delivering your product or goal. Time is King! Once spent, it can never be recovered!
A wee bit on history.....
Prior to waking up to these local opportunities, Anna spent around 20 year in the corporate business community in IT development and Project Management. Working on all aspects from creating the real business requirements (goals) to delivering, then supporting the final item, she has had many ideal opportunities to build all the skills required to turn problems into solutions. Much of this time was spent working very closely with the business community, thus creating a unique insight and intuitive feel for what the customer actually needs.
